A great getaway shouldn't mean someone gets left behind.

At Bottleworks Hotel, four-legged guests are part of the experience. In fact, Haute Living recently named Bottleworks Hotel as the top pet-friendly luxury hotel for Indiana.

We like to think it's all in the details. A special welcome in the room. Some of Indy's best walking trails just outside. Treat stops and neighborhood adventures within easy reach. And, of course, a stylish place to come home to at the end of the day.

Here's how we'd spend the perfect dog day at Bottleworks.

1. Check In and Claim Your Room

First order of business: inspect the accommodations.

Dogs arriving at Bottleworks Hotel are welcomed with their own bowls, a custom-made sweet treat, and a placemat created in partnership with our Indy-local friends at City Dogs Grocery.

They'll probably assume the whole thing was booked for them. We're not going to correct them.

2. Hit the Trails

Once everyone has settled in, it's time to stretch those legs.

Step outside Bottleworks Hotel and you're within easy reach of two of Indy's favorite trails. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail runs right through the neighborhood, perfect for a walk along Mass Ave and through downtown.

Or head to the north end of the hotel, where the Monon Trail is accessible just steps away at 10th and Bellefontaine. It's an easy way to trade city sidewalks for a little more nature, with plenty of room to walk, explore, and, most importantly, get in some very serious sniffing. The Monon also connects with the Cultural Trail near Mass Ave, making Bottleworks a particularly convenient starting point for exploring Indy on foot.

If you and your pup are up for venturing a little farther, White River State Park offers another great outdoor escape downtown.

For guests searching for a pet-friendly hotel in Indianapolis, having this many opportunities to get outside just beyond the front door is a perk both you and your pup will appreciate.

3. Make a Treat Stop on Mass Ave

You packed treats. Your dog knows you can do better.

Take a walk down Mass Ave to Three Dog Bakery, where the cases are filled with plenty of reasons to spoil your favorite travel companion.

Consider it vacation shopping. Everyone deserves a souvenir.

4. Explore the Neighborhood Together

There's plenty to sniff out around Bottleworks.

Take a leisurely walk through Bottleworks District, wander along Mass Ave, or find a patio where you can settle in together for a while. With so much to explore within walking distance, there's no need to over-plan the afternoon.

Plans optional. Leash required.

5. Put Four Paws Up

After a full day exploring, there's absolutely nothing wrong with calling it.

Head upstairs, get comfortable, and enjoy some downtime together. Bottleworks guest rooms are designed as retreats, with plush bedding, plenty of space to settle in, and in-room dining available when going back out sounds like entirely too much work.

Besides, your dog has been waiting all day to test the bed.

Strictly for quality-control purposes, of course.

6. Wake Up and Do It All Again

The best part of bringing your dog along? You get to start the next day together.

One more neighborhood walk. One more lap around Bottleworks District. Maybe one more treat before you pack the car.

At Bottleworks Hotel, a pet-friendly stay doesn't have to feel like a compromise. It's another way to experience Indianapolis with your favorite travel companion right beside you.

Pack the leash. Book your stay. We'll have the treats waiting.
